On the eve of my departure to China, I still haven't felt it "hit me" yet. I'm not quite sure when that will happen or ever. Regardless, I felt it necessary to blog these last few hours before my flight. My last few days have been a buying frenzy...Before you think I'm going to China to become a flipper, know that these are gifts. I have a limit of 2 50lb bags on my flight. About 75/100lbs will be these gifts (and many others not pictured) for my family. Gifting is a big deal in China. Not necessarily the gifts themselves but the timing and thought of the gift is very important. As I embark on my own "journey to the west", there will be many tough times ahead, and my family there will be the ones who will be there physically for me. These gifts aren't meant to be something that they owe me but that I recognize the importance of them in my life and my journey ahead.
I also want to invite you guys to journey with me. If you're reading this blog, there's most likely some kind of friendship between us (or I just called you out, then sorry). I hope to be updating this blog frequently of my travels and experiences in the Orient. Feel free to leave comments, messages, or emails; and let me know if there are ways I can be praying for you. For now, Emmanuel!
